David Daniel
Principal

David Daniel, the principal of Daniel Digital Media, is an experienced manager (22 years in Hi-Tech) of digital media products and web-based services with a solid business and technology foundation. He has a deep understanding of new product development and lifecycle management processes and has developed successful methodologies to manage the myriad of details and relationships associated with the "cradle to grave" lifecycle of commercial products. Prior to founding DDM, David has held several senior product management positions at Silicon Valley companies including Starlight Networks (inventors of IP-network video), Playback Media Corporation and Montage Systems, Inc. In former positions at Pacific Bell David was deeply involved in the design and development of electronic messaging products. As a member of the company's Advanced Video Services team David had primary responsibility for creating new applications for Bell products serving the Entertainment industry. David has also:

  • Managed development and release of multiple versions of PictureTel Corporation's eVideo Application Server (eVAS), with first shipment fulfilled backorders valued at over $1 million.
  • Managed software development teams and developed new applications for Pacific Bell's data communications, video networking products and video conferencing billing and rating systems. He also made significant contributions to the design of Pacific Bell Media Park the first networked multimedia production environment.
  • Developed a new marketing strategy, marketing plan and reorganized product development process for Interactive TV products at Sybase, Inc. Performed analysis of the Interactive Television, Video on Demand and Audio on Demand markets.
  • Developed the reference platform for digital video recording and Non-Linear Editing systems to capture and create instructional videos of minimally invasive surgical procedures at the Lucille Salter Packard Children's Hospital. Which improved video quality while enhancing the teaching process for surgeons.
  • Managed programs for digital broadcast satellite equipment vendor, Divicom, Inc. While there David also initiated and managed development of a data injection system that was delivered in under 14 weeks, to a foreign broadcaster; protecting the company the loss of tens of thousands of dollars in liquidated damage penalties.
  • Managed Conditional Access System vendors for americast consortium's interactive TV project.
  • Investigated technology requirements for the use of digital video by UCSF Stanford Health Care.
  • Developed an intermodal container tracking system for American President Lines.
  • Designed and operated a pricing analysis system for the "Dare To Compare" advertising campaign of regional grocer Lucky Stores, Inc. (now Albertson Supermarkets).

David possesses credentials in both the entertainment and high-tech arenas. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, certificates in Marketing and Software Engineering Management from the University of California and is a graduate of Pacific Bell's Data Communications Institute.

David's career in the entertainment industry spans 30 years and has associated him with many top artists including, Curtis Mayfield, George Benson, Randy Crawford, jazz masters Joe Williams, Jon Hendricks; and many entertainment legends including The Nicholas Brothers, Patti LaBelle, and Eartha Kitt. As a performer and producer David has recorded albums, soundtracks, videos and voice-overs. His theatrical credits include several Broadway shows.
